Plexus Health is a non-profit community-based organization. Under the guidance of a local Board of Directors, we have been providing health care and pharmacy assistance since 1993. Whether you need same-day sick visits or routine care, we have certified, dedicated and compassionate staff ready to provide you with the best health care available. We offer a full range of primary health care services and an onsite private pharmacy. We welcome new patients, and our bilingual staff is ready to provide translation for Spanish speaking patients.
In 1993, Plexus Health started as Care-Net, a local clinic on Main Street in Lancaster with limited hours and services provided by volunteer medical Providers. Since then, Plexus Health has continued to grow. The move in 2008 to the campus of the MUSC Hospital provided expanded hours, more services, and a private pharmacy.
The Kershaw facility opened in September of 2012 and is located one block off Main Street in the town of Kershaw, approximately eighteen miles from the Lancaster location. Plexus Health Kershaw provides the same services as the Lancaster location, as well as digital imaging and daily pharmacy delivery. The introduction of an Electronic Medical Record System in 2013, enables medical staff access to records from different departments, allowing patients the option to choose between locations.
In 2019 the addition of more providers and services prompted the Board of Directors to rebrand, and we are now known to the community as Plexus Health. The new name reflects the meaning — an intricate network, working together as one. Along with the rebranding initiative, Plexus Health expanded its services to include Behavioral Health and Medication Assisted Therapy for Substance Use Disorder. Plexus Health staffs a licensed clinical social worker to address a wide array of mental health issues, and offers various types of counseling, as well as referrals to community resources and agencies. Both offices have certified medication-assisted therapy providers for individuals in need of substance use disorder treatment.
In rural areas transportation can be a barrier to care. Patients with disabilities, the elderly and individuals with limited transportation options can now receive access to care. Plexus Health offers a ride service to and from all Plexus Health facilities as well as specialist appointments referred by our care team.
In March of 2023, the Lancaster location moved from the MUSC Hospital campus and temporally relocated to 800 N. White St. The facility offers the same services, including prescription drug pick-up. Plexus Health has invested in state-of-the-art equipment including advanced check-in and access to a robust patient medical portal to provide quality and efficient care.
Construction of a larger facility is planned to be completed by January of 2024, and will offer more visibility, additional services, and a pharmacy drive-through for prescription pick-up.
We are aware of the many healthcare options now available. That is why quality is an area of focus. Patients can be assured that quality is one of our many goals. Plexus Health invests in its dedicated employees by providing current and relevant training and has a well-developed quality improvement program. Plexus Health has received quality awards five years running.
